Our Organization

Princess Anne Courthouse Volunteer Rescue Squad is one of the 10 independent, all- volunteer rescue squads that comprise the Virginia Beach Department of EMS and VBRescue system.

VBRescue is the nation’s largest volunteer-based emergency medical system. Every year, our Squad of volunteers:

  • Donate approximately 50,000 hours serving the community
  • Respond to approximately 5,000 emergency calls including basic and advanced life support calls

Our “first due” service area encompasses approximately 1/3 of the city’s land mass (100 Sq. miles), from Redwing to the North Landing Bridge and from Rock Creek to Pleasant Ridge, the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, Ocean Lakes, Redmill, Strawbridge, Lake Placid and all of the other neighborhoods in between with a population that is more than 20,000 families.

Our Fleet and Facilities

Princess Anne Courthouse Volunteer Rescue Squad maintains two facilities. Station 5 is located at the Courthouse Complex ( Virginia Beach Municipal Center) and Station 21 is in the Red Mill / Strawbridge area off Nimmo Parkway.

As an independent organization, we are responsible for purchasing our own uniforms and equipment, including the ambulances themselves.

Our fleet currently consists of four Advanced Life Support ambulances, a utility truck and one Special Events Response Cart.
