For generations, the Princess Anne Courthouse Volunteer Rescue Squad has proudly answered the call when our community needs us most.

We are one of 10 independent, all-volunteer rescue squads that make up the Virginia Beach Department of EMS and the VBRescue system — recognized as the nation’s largest volunteer-based emergency medical services system.

But what makes our Squad special isn’t just the size of the system we serve. It’s the people behind it.

Every year, our dedicated volunteers give approximately 50,000 hours of their time to serve the citizens and visitors of Virginia Beach — responding day and night, weekends and holidays, whenever the call comes.

Each year, our Squad responds to approximately 5,000 emergency calls, providing both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency medical care.

Our primary response area covers approximately 100 square miles — nearly one-third of the entire land area of Virginia Beach.

From Redwing to North Landing Bridge and Rock Creek to Pleasant Ridge, our volunteers serve the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, Ocean Lakes, Red Mill, Strawbridge, Lake Placid, and the many neighborhoods and communities in between.

More than 20,000 families live within the area we proudly call our first due.

When Our Community Calls, We Answer.

Our ambulances may carry the Princess Anne Courthouse name, but the people inside them are your neighbors, friends, coworkers, and fellow community members.

They volunteer for one simple reason:

To be there when someone needs help.
